Two new resinicolous mycocalicioid fungi from the Acadian Forest: One new to science, the other new to North America

Abstract Chaenothecopsis claydenii is described as new from New Brunswick, Canada, and C. eugenia, also from New Brunswick, is reported for the first time in North America. Both species grow on the resin of Picea spp. in the Acadian Forest and bring to 91 the number of calicioid lichens and fungi known for the ecoregion. Diagnoses and information on the taxonomy and ecology of each species is provided, as is a worldwide key to the mycocalicioid taxa growing on conifer resin.
Two new antarctic species of the genus Schizotricha Allman, 1883 (Cnidaria, Hydrozoa)

Two new antarctic species of the genus Schizotricha Allman have been studied. The material comes from the Scotia Sea (Antarctica) and was collected by the Spanish antarctic expedition `Antartida 8611'. Both species are described and figured and the systematic position is discussed. A general survey of the geographical and bathymetrical distribution of the antarctic and subantarctic species of the genus is given. Finally, a key for the identification of the antarctic and subantarctic species of the genus, together with a comparative table including main features, are presented.

A systematic review of the genus Scaphiostomum Braun, 1901 (Trematoda: Brachylaimidae) is presented. Its diagnosis is emended and its position within the subfamily Brachylaiminae Joyeux & Foley, 1930 is established. The subfamily Scaphiostominae Yamaguti, 1958 is considered a synonym of the Brachy-laiminae. Scaphiostomum comprises the following species: S. illatabile Braun, 1901 (type species) from birds in South America, S. pancreaticum McIntosh, 1934 and S. microti (Kruidenier & Gallicchio, 1959) n. comb., both from rodents in North America, and S. palaearcticum n. sp. from rodents in the Balearic Islands (Spain). Advances in the knowledge of South African Riella (Sphaerocarpales) and a new endemic species, Riella trigonospora

Cultures of soil sediments collected in June 2012 from saltpans and vleis from five South African localities have revealed two new, geographically distant, populations of the endemic Riella alatospora, confirmed the presence of Riella purpureospora from Blouvlei in the Cape Town area and uncovered a new endemic species, Riella trigonospora. The new species obtained from cultures from five sampled localities is described and illustrated. It is dioicous and characterised by acuminate to rostrate, papillose involucres and by a unique spore morphology. En contraste con los enormes esfuerzos realizados por caracterizar la fauna y flora de Costa Rica, con excepción de algunos registros aislados, muy poco se sabe sobre las sanguijuelas (Annelida: Clitellata) en este país. En este trabajo, presentamos la redescripción de una especie terrestre muy poco conocida: Cylicobdella costaricae, caracterizando su morfología externa e interna; esta última se mantenía completamente desconocida hasta la fecha. Adicionalmente, presentamos la primera lista de especies de sanguijuelas para Costa Rica con un total de 12 taxones registrados en las 7 provincias del país.
